This is one of the oldest and best of the so-called "5-star" resorts in Sabah; only ten minutes from the airport and situated on its own little peninsular of land, the hotel caters for the discerning tourist who enjoys the best of everything: several good restaurants with both European and Asian food, a beautiful vaulted entrance lobby and lounge, an arcade of shops and places to hire bikes etc, plus two excellent pools and its own private beach facing the coral islands of Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park.

A day trip to the Orang Utan Sanctuary at Sepilok and to see Mt. Kinabalu National Park is included (arranged through Discovery Tours who have an office on the premises).

You can also take the hotel bus out to Shangri La's other resort, the Rasa Ria, about 50 kilometers up the coast and see their mini-sanctuary and nature walk. There are many other enjoyable day excursions available, especially to the coral islands offshore. 

14 days at the hotel (children under 18 can stay free in parent's room) costs £720 ($1095) per person. More or fewer days available at pro-rata price. Breakfast included and full board available.

We also recommend the 3-day excursions to Mount Kinabalu to climb the mountain (14000ft) and to Sandakan on the East Coast of Borneo to visit Turtle Island (overnight) and cruise along the Kinabatangan River which offers the highest concentration of wildlife in Borneo.. All meals, airfares and transportation is included on these tours, but we must book well in advance to organise flights and hotel accommodation.
