Lambir Day Visit
Niah N.P. Overnight
Miri City and Local Tours.
Starts with a trip up Canada Hill to visit the Grand Old Lady of Miri - the first oil well to be drilled here and a fine panoramic view of the city seawards and to the south towards Mulu and Lambir Hills. Then a drive round the old town, a glimpse of the new "Fan City" civic center, time to buy a few handicrafts or books if desired, before settling down to a fine multi-course buffet lunch at the Cafe Rosita in one of Miri's oldest 4-star hotels.
After lunch continue to Lambir National Park, which is about a 30 minute drive, for an afternoon in the jungle! A beautifully preserved slice of primary jungle welcomes you as you walk beside a crystal clear little stream along to a large rock pool with 30 foot waterfall for a nice refreshing dip in the "emerald waters". A chance also to climb the tree tower nearby and for further walks in the forest. Return to Miri for sundown.

Further down the same road is Niah, where the massive oval cave housed Neolithic man and where modern man has gathered bird nests for the famous "bird nest soup from the very top of the cave more than 200 feet up on bamboo poles. Overnight recommended at the Park Headquarters (private room) as otherwise it is a 3 hour drive and a 3 hour walk all in one day, with little time for relaxation or sight-seeing.

Overnight stays in Miri (included for Bario and Mulu trips) are at the "TreeTops Lodge" a few miles out of town, bordered on one side by the forested jungle of Lambir and on the other by miles of unspoilt beach- an eco-tourists paradise!
Option: Fly to Bario in the Heart of Borneo for one week's longhouse trekking instead of local visits above. (Guide and meals included on this).
Total Cost: (including B&B accommodation, transport, boat trips, airport transfers and internal flights) £390 (€ / USD 620)
